Mr. Fred Kabanda is the Division Manager, Extractives at the African Development Bank.

 

Before Joining the Bank, two years ago, Mr. Kabanda worked as Assistant Commissioner in Uganda’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development where he served for nearly 25 years. He also previously worked as a lecturer in the Department of Geology and Petroleum Studies at Makerere University.

 

Mr. Kabanda trained in Petroleum Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and in Geology at Makerere University. He has had several trainings in petroleum policy, law, finance, negotiations, operations and management among others.

 

Mr. Kabanda has been involved in extractives policy setting, formulation of laws, regulation of operations and general natural resources management.

 

He is an active member of:

  • Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE),
  • Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and
  • American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)
